Burkinabe defender Rachid Ayindé makes senior debut for Gent in Belgian top flight

Rachid Ayindé stepped onto the pitch for Gent’s first team for the first time in the Belgian First Division, marking an important milestone in his young career.

Ayindé joined Jong KAA Gent in July 2023 and continued to push for senior recognition.

He finally earned his chance this weekend when Gent faced Saint-Truidense, and the Burkinabe defender entered the match in the 84th minute for his first appearance of the season with the senior side.

The left-back embraced the moment with confidence. He showed strong commitment, worked tirelessly in his position and demonstrated the professionalism that earned him the call-up.

He completed every pass he attempted and won a duel, signalling his readiness to compete at the top level.

Ayindé’s contribution offered Gent a fresh spark in the closing minutes, but the team still fell 2–1 to Saint-Truidense.

Despite the result, the occasion marked a personal breakthrough for the defender as he begins to establish himself within the first-team setup.

Gent continues its league campaign, and Ayindé now aims to build on this debut and earn more minutes as the season progresses.
