Burkina Faso Women's team step up WAFCON 2026 preparations in Ouagadougou

Burkina Faso women’s national football team have intensified preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as the squad assembles in Ouagadougou ahead of the continental showpiece.

The tournament is scheduled to take place in Morocco from March 17 to April 3, 2026, and the Burkinabe side is leaving no stone unturned in its quest to make a strong impression.

Under the guidance of head coach Pascal Sawadogo, the team held an intensive training session on Thursday, February 19, at the iconic Stade du 4-Août. The session focused on tactical drills, fitness work, and team cohesion as the players sharpen their readiness for the demanding competition ahead.

The Stallions Ladies are returning to the Women’s AFCON four years after their historic maiden appearance and will be aiming to build on that milestone with a stronger showing this time around.

Drawn in Group B, Burkina Faso faces a challenging path, with fixtures against Ivory Coast women’s national football team, Tanzania women’s national football team, and continental heavyweights South Africa women’s national football team.

With preparations gathering momentum in Ouagadougou, the Burkinabe squad is determined to fine-tune its strategy and raise its competitive edge before heading to Morocco for the prestigious tournament.

Below are the WAFCON Group pairings:

Group A: Morocco – Algeria – Senegal – Kenya

Group B: South Africa – Ivory Coast – Burkina Faso – Tanzania

Group C: Nigeria – Zambia – Egypt – Malawi

Group D: Ghana – Cameroon – Mali – Cape Verde
