Burkina Faso will win AFCON 2025 – Striker Georgi Minoungou
Burkina Faso forward Georgi Minoungou has expressed optimism about his outfit chances of securing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title.
The 23-year-old attacker, who plies hid trade for Major League Soccer side, Seattle Sounders is expected to make the Burkina Faso squad for the impending AFCON in the North African country next month.
Having truly burst onto the scene at the Club World Cup last July, the 23-year-old Burkinabe player is determined to lead his team to victory in this continental tournament.
“Burkina Faso will win the AFCON. Like any striker, you have to score more goals to help the team win. I’m working to be more decisive, more efficient. I’m a one-on-one player, I create a lot of chances, but I want to add more assists and be more clinical in front of goal” said Georgi Minoungou.
Burkina Faso will face Algeria, Sudan, and Equatorial Guinea in the first round of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. While the Fennecs are considered favorites in their group, and perhaps even in the tournament, Georgi Minoungou remains calm.
The 23-year-old forward has made four appearances for the Burkina Faso national team since making his debut in July 2025.
Minoungou has made 21 appearances for the MLS outfit this season, scoring one goal and delivering four assists across the period.
