USFA Clinch Third Coupe du Faso Title with Convincing Win Over ASFB
The Armed Forces Sports Union (USFA) claimed their third Coupe du Faso title in emphatic fashion on Sunday, defeating ASFB (Association des Fonctionnaires de Bobo-Dioulasso) 3-0 at the Stade du 4 Août in Ouagadougou.
In a final that remained tightly contested through the first half, ASFB goalkeeper Djibril Koné kept his side in the match with a crucial first-half goalkeeping performance. But the second period told a different story as USFA asserted their dominance.
The breakthrough came in the 56th minute when Mikayoul Dramé unleashed a powerful effort that left the ASFB defence helpless. With ASFB chasing the game in the dying moments, Cyrille Kpan added a second goal in the 90th minute, before Franck Guiaman sealed the victory in stoppage time, completing a comprehensive triumph for the military-backed side.
This win marks USFA’s third Coupe du Faso trophy, adding to their previous victories in 2002 and 2010. Alongside the trophy, USFA were awarded 10 million CFA francs and gold medals, while runners-up ASFB received 7.5 million CFA francs and silver medals for their efforts.
The result cements USFA’s status as one of Burkina Faso’s most consistent cup performers and provides a significant morale boost as they prepare for the upcoming domestic campaign.
