Burkina Faso’s Bertrand Traoré emphasized that his team has arrived at the Africa Cup of Nations with the clear goal of clinching the championship.
The Burkina Faso national team is gearing up to face Mauritania on Tuesday in the opening match of the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Traoré stated, “We have prepared well for the tournament, and I believe the days of preparation have gone well.
Although I wasn’t present initially, I was in constant communication with the team.”
He continued, “Upon joining the squad, I observed the positive dynamics among them, and I think we will start the tournament well.”
Traoré confidently asserted, “It’s easy to sit and name the favored teams, but for me, we are the ones aiming for the title.
We came here to bring the trophy home.”
Coach Hubert Velud also addressed the media during the conference, stating, “This tournament is being held in Côte d’Ivoire, which is close to Burkina Faso, so there is something special about this competition, and everyone in the team feels that.”
He added, “We prepared well for the tournament, and each player knows their responsibility.
This edition is particularly important for Burkina Faso.”
“We do not underestimate any team, but at the same time, we do not fear any team in this tournament,” Velud emphasized.
Burkina Faso finds itself in Group D alongside Algeria, Mauritania, and Angola.
As the team approaches its opening match, the sense of purpose and determination is evident, echoing their commitment to making a significant impact in the Africa Cup of Nations.
