Burkina Faso line up two friendlies

Burkina Faso will take on Russia and Belarus in a pair of international friendly matches during the upcoming June international break.

With no involvement in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Etalons will use the window to build cohesion and fine-tune their tactical approach as preparations continue for future competitive fixtures.

The West African outfit will first travel to Volgograd to face Russia national football team on 5 June in what promises to be a physically demanding encounter against a European opponent.

They will then move on to Minsk, where they will take on Belarus national football team on 9 June, wrapping up their international assignment in the Belarusian capital.

The two fixtures are expected to provide the coaching staff with a valuable opportunity to assess squad depth, experiment with tactical variations, and strengthen team chemistry at international level.

Beyond the immediate results, these matches are seen as part of a broader long-term project aimed at preparing the Etalons for upcoming competitions, particularly the qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

For Burkina Faso, the June break is less about competition and more about construction—building a stronger, more cohesive unit capable of competing consistently on the continental stage.
