The Burkinabe Football Federation (FBF) has completed a major overhaul of its coaching staff, following a call for applications launched earlier this year aimed at restructuring the country’s national teams across all age groups. The initiative reflects the federation’s commitment to strengthening Burkina Faso’s football programs and ensuring continuity and quality in the development of players from youth levels to the senior squad.
After a rigorous selection process, several appointments have been confirmed. Eric Zié Ouattara has been named head coach of the U17 team, taking responsibility for nurturing the country’s youngest talent and preparing them for continental and international competitions. The U20s will be under the guidance of Oscar Barro, who will work to bridge the gap between youth and senior football by developing players ready for professional and international challenges. Brama Traoré has been appointed to lead the U23s, focusing on fine-tuning the skills and tactical awareness of players on the cusp of breaking into the senior national team.
The local team, which represents Burkina Faso’s domestic league players in regional competitions, will be coached by Seydou Zerbo. His experience and familiarity with the local football scene are expected to be invaluable in identifying and nurturing talent from within the country’s domestic clubs. Meanwhile, Zakaridia Ouattara has been appointed as the physical trainer for all categories of the Stallions, ensuring that players across age groups receive consistent and high-quality conditioning to meet the demands of modern football.
The women’s national teams will also benefit from dedicated leadership, with Aminata Sissoko taking charge of the preparation and development of female players across all categories of the women’s Stallions. Her appointment marks a continued effort by the FBF to promote women’s football in Burkina Faso and provide structured support for the growth of the game at all levels.
In addition to the new appointments, Paulo Duarte will retain his position as head coach of the senior men’s A team. Duarte’s continued leadership provides stability at the highest level of Burkinabe football, ensuring that the senior squad benefits from strategic continuity while younger players are being prepared under the guidance of the newly appointed coaches.
The FBF has also indicated that the remaining vacant positions within the national team structures will be filled in due course. This phased approach allows the federation to carefully select qualified professionals who can contribute to the ongoing development of football in Burkina Faso.
In summary, Burkina Faso’s football coaching structure has undergone a comprehensive restructuring, with Eric Zié Ouattara, Oscar Barro, and Brama Traoré taking charge of the U17, U20, and U23 teams respectively, Seydou Zerbo leading the local team, and Aminata Sissoko overseeing the women’s national teams. Zakaridia Ouattara will manage physical training across all categories, while Paulo Duarte remains at the helm of the senior men’s team. The FBF’s initiative signals a renewed focus on youth development, continuity, and the promotion of both men’s and women’s football across the country.
