Burkina Faso face Equatorial Guinea in crucial Olympic qualifying first leg

The Etalons Dames host Equatorial Guinea at the Stade du 4-Aout in Ouagadougou on Thursday, 8 October 2026, in the first leg of the second round of qualifying for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Kick-off is scheduled for 18:00 GMT.

With Issa Balbone now in charge, the Burkina Faso side will aim to make home advantage count in the opening match of the two-legged tie. The hosts will, however, be wary of a Nzalang Nacional team arriving with its own ambitions of reaching the Olympic tournament.

The match represents an important first step for Burkina Faso before the return fixture. The Etalons Dames will seek to build a lead in Ouagadougou before travelling to Equatorial Guinea, keeping their hopes of progressing to Los Angeles 2028 on course.
