Burkina Faso coach Brama Traoré Set to announce squad for Egypt and Djibouti fixtures
Burkina Faso head coach Brama Traoré will reveal his squad on 28 August 2025 for the September international window, with the Stallions preparing to face Egypt and Djibouti.
The selection is expected to include familiar names alongside several fresh faces, as Traoré looks to balance experience with emerging talent.
For the most part, the squad is expected to mirror that of the previous international gathering. Among the notable inclusions is Issa Kaboré, who remains without a club at present but is still tipped to feature.
Despite his uncertain club situation, the staff are counting on his international experience. Another anticipated addition is Géorgie Minoungou, the Seattle Sounders forward, who is set to make an appearance in this camp.
Uncertainty, however, surrounds the participation of team captain Bertrand Traoré. The Ajax forward has missed his club’s last two matches due to injury, and his availability will be determined closer to the fixtures.
Goalkeeper Jean Clovis Bazemo, currently playing in Ivory Coast’s second division with Africa Sports, is also being strongly considered for the squad.

Coach: Brama Traoré
The forthcoming fixtures will be crucial for Burkina Faso as they aim to fine-tune their squad and solidify tactical cohesion ahead of competitive campaigns.
Egypt, with their pedigree and depth, will provide a stern test, while Djibouti offer an opportunity for Traoré to experiment with selections and evaluate fringe players.
For the coach, the challenge lies in managing a blend of seasoned internationals and promising youngsters, while also navigating injury doubts and the form of players still finding their footing at club level.
The inclusion of names like Edmond Tapsoba of Bayer Leverkusen and Dango Ouattara further underlines the core of quality available to Traoré, while potential newcomers such as Bazemo and Minoungou signal the coach’s willingness to reward emerging talent.
All eyes will be on Traoré’s official announcement on 28 August, which will confirm whether captain Bertrand Traoré recovers in time and whether Burkina Faso’s squad depth can rise to the challenge of their September assignments.
