Burkina Faso head coach Brama Traoré has voiced frustration over the lack of communication from RC Lens regarding the injury status of goalkeeper Hervé Koffi, who recently suffered a hamstring issue.
Koffi was absent during Lens’ 1-0 victory over Marseille last weekend but has still been named in Burkina Faso’s squad for their upcoming fixtures.
However, uncertainty looms over his availability, with Traoré admitting that no official update has been provided by the French club.
“I have received reports about his condition, but no official from Lens has contacted the Federation to confirm his injury,” Traoré stated.
The coach is now left waiting for concrete information before making a final decision on whether Koffi will be able to feature in the upcoming international matches.
Hope for Koffi’s Return?
Traoré remains hopeful that the injury is not serious and that the experienced shot-stopper will still be able to join the squad.
“We need him a lot. If it is a minor injury, there is still a week left for him to recover and be ready to defend the national colours,” he explained.
With only days remaining before Burkina Faso’s squad assembles, the situation remains unresolved.
The Burkinabè Football Federation is awaiting an official response from Lens to assess its options.
Should Koffi be ruled out for an extended period, the coaching staff will have to consider an alternative plan.
For now, uncertainty lingers as Burkina Faso waits for clarity on the availability of their first-choice goalkeeper.
