Ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifier between Burkina Faso and Algeria, Charles Kaboré, the captain of the Stallions of Burkina Faso, is optimistic about their chances of securing a spot in the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. The first leg of this decisive encounter is scheduled for October 12 in Ouagadougou.

Kaboré, who plays as a midfielder for FC Kuban Krasnodar, expressed confidence in his team’s abilities, stating, “We will approach the match like all the other teams, especially with much more serenity while knowing that we have very important individual and collective qualities. Each of us is aware of the responsibility that awaits us.”

Reflecting on Burkina Faso’s performance in the recent African Cup of Nations (CAN), Kaboré emphasized the team’s recognition of their own value and the need to be serious, united, and minimize errors. He acknowledged the historic opportunity at stake, noting, “We all know that this is a turning point in our footballing lives. We will make Burkina Faso football history if we manage to qualify for this World Cup.”

Kaboré urged the Burkinabè people to support the team in their quest for qualification, recognizing the significance of the moment for the country. While acknowledging the strength of the Algerian team, which has previously participated in World Cups, Kaboré emphasized the importance of focusing on their own performance and the opportunity to secure Burkina Faso’s first-ever participation in the World Cup.
