Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt complete Malik Pimpong signing on long-term deal
Ghana-eligible striker joins Bundesliga side after standout season with FC Midtjylland
Eintracht Frankfurt have completed the signing of teenage striker Malik Pimpong from Danish club FC Midtjylland, with the Bundesliga side announcing the 18-year-old has agreed a contract until 2031.
The move follows an impressive campaign in Denmark, where Pimpong established himself as one of the country’s most promising young forwards.
His performances for Midtjylland’s academy and youth teams attracted attention after a prolific season in front of goal.
Pimpong leaves the club where he developed as a player after progressing through Midtjylland’s academy, having joined at Under-13 level.
During the 2025-26 season, he enjoyed his most productive year, finishing as the top scorer in the Danish Under-19 league.
The striker scored 25 goals in 38 appearances for Midtjylland’s Under-19 side, underlining his reputation as one of the league’s most effective attacking players.
His form was equally impressive in European competition.
Pimpong scored five goals and provided one assist in seven UEFA Youth League matches, performances that also earned him opportunities to feature with Midtjylland’s senior team.
The transfer to Frankfurt marks the next step in the teenager’s career as he prepares to make the move from Danish football to the Bundesliga.
A breakthrough season paved the way for a move to Germany
Goals at domestic and European level raised Pimpong’s profile
Pimpong’s rise through Midtjylland’s academy culminated in a season that showcased his goalscoring ability in both domestic and continental competitions.
His 25-goal return in the Danish Under-19 league made him the division’s leading scorer, while his contributions in the UEFA Youth League demonstrated his ability to perform against some of Europe’s top youth sides.
Those displays helped secure first-team appearances before his move to Germany was confirmed.
The transfer also represents a significant achievement for FC Midtjylland’s academy, becoming the biggest sale involving a player developed through the club’s youth system.
International future remains undecided
Forward is eligible to represent both Denmark and Ghana
Pimpong’s international career remains open despite representing Denmark at youth level.
The striker is the son of former Ghana international Razak Pimpong and has featured for Denmark at Under-17 and Under-19 level.
However, he has not made a senior international appearance, meaning he remains eligible to represent Ghana in the future.
That leaves both nations as potential options as his career continues to develop following his move to the Bundesliga.

Before completing his move to Germany, Pimpong expressed his gratitude to FC Midtjylland, thanking the club for its role in his footballing journey.
He acknowledged the contribution the Danish side made to both his personal growth and his development as a player after spending several years within the academy system.
His departure closes one chapter in his career and opens another with Eintracht Frankfurt, where he will now look to continue his progress in one of Europe’s leading leagues.
