Bundesliga: Dortmund Slip Again as Bayern Cruise Past Hoffenheim
Borussia Dortmund’s turbulent Bundesliga campaign continued on Saturday as they were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw away to newly-promoted SC Paderborn, despite a strong start to the match.
The visitors appeared in control early on, with Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang opening the scoring in the 13th minute. The forward then turned provider, setting up Marco Reus to double the lead in the 40th minute. However, Dortmund failed to maintain their momentum after the break.
SC Paderborn mounted an impressive second-half comeback, scoring twice to stun Jürgen Klopp’s side and deny them a much-needed win. The result adds to Dortmund’s woes this season, as they continue to struggle in the lower half of the Bundesliga standings, far from the title-challenging form of recent years.
In stark contrast, Bayern Munich once again demonstrated their dominance at the top of the table with a commanding 4-0 victory over Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena. Mario Götze opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, followed by a goal from Robert Lewandowski just before half-time. Late strikes from Arjen Robben (82′) and Sebastian Rode (87′) sealed a comfortable win for Pep Guardiola’s side, who remain unbeaten and firmly in control of the title race.
Elsewhere on matchday 12, Borussia Mönchengladbach suffered a surprise 3-1 defeat at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, while Bayer Leverkusen claimed an impressive 3-1 win away to Hannover.
