Buba Sangare: Spain and Mali defender linked with Bundesliga move to Frankfurt
Buba Sangare, the Spain and Mali defender at Elche CF, has been linked with a move to Bundesliga club Frankfurt.
The 19-year-old right-back has made 10 La Liga appearances for Elche this season, scoring once. He has been included in the starting line-up in 91% of the club’s possible league matches and has played 79% of the available minutes.
Sangare joined Elche permanently from Roma on 1 July 2026 in a deal worth €4.5m. He had previously spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at the Spanish club before returning to Roma, where he made the move permanent ahead of the current campaign.
The defender is under contract with Elche until 30 June 2031, meaning any agreement with Frankfurt would involve a transfer rather than a free move. His current market value is listed at €5m.
Sangare was born in Elche and represented Spain at under-19 level, helping the team win the European Under-19 Championship in 2026. He has remained involved in Elche’s first-team campaign this season, although he has not featured in the Copa del Rey.
The reported interest comes with Sangare established in Elche’s league set-up less than four months after completing his permanent transfer from Roma.
