Cameroon star Bryan Mbeumo scores as Manchester United thrash Ipswich 5-2

Cameroon international Bryan Mbeumo scored for Manchester United as the Red Devils secured a convincing 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town in the English Premier League on Sunday.

Mbeumo came off the bench and made his mark in the closing stages of the seven-goal thriller at Old Trafford, producing a composed finish to put Manchester United 5-1 ahead.

The forward’s goal capped an impressive second-half performance from the home side, who recovered from conceding the opening goal to dominate the contest.

Mbeumo completes United’s five-goal haul

Manchester United had already established a commanding lead when Mbeumo struck in the 82nd minute.

Bruno Fernandes played the ball towards Mbeumo on the edge of the Ipswich penalty area.

The Cameroon forward timed his run perfectly, got behind the defensive line and showed excellent composure to lift the ball over goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen.

The finish gave United a 5-1 advantage and underlined Mbeumo’s attacking threat as he continues to settle into life at Old Trafford.

Fernandes leads United comeback

Manchester United had fallen behind in the 29th minute when Leif Davis volleyed Ipswich into the lead after an assist from Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

Fernandes levelled the contest in the 40th minute after capitalising on a defensive mistake.

An own goal from Jacob Greaves put United ahead in the 56th minute before Fernandes converted a penalty four minutes later.

The Portuguese midfielder then completed his hat-trick in the 68th minute to put United 4-1 ahead.

Mbeumo added the fifth before Ipswich scored a late consolation through Chuba Akpom in stoppage time.

Another African player makes his mark

Mbeumo’s goal adds to the growing African presence at Manchester United, with the Cameroon international providing another attacking option for the English giants.
