Bryan Mbeumo named Cameroon captain ahead of 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers

Bryan Mbeumo has been appointed Cameroon captain, with Arthur Avom and Samuel Kotto named as his vice-captains by head coach David Pagou ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.

The Manchester United forward takes over the armband following the retirement of Frank Zambo-Anguissa, which left the Indomitable Lions without a captain. Mbeumo’s appointment was confirmed during Cameroon’s first squad gathering since that announcement.

Avom will serve as the first vice-captain and provide cover for Mbeumo, while Kotto has been selected as the team’s second vice-captain.

Cameroon begin their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday against Comoros. The Indomitable Lions will return to home support looking to start the campaign with a victory.
