Bryan Mbeumo backs Michael Carrick to remain at Manchester United amid growing support
Bryan Mbeumo has added his voice to the growing internal backing for Michael Carrick to continue in charge of Manchester United beyond his interim spell, as momentum builds around the former midfielder’s influence at Old Trafford.
The forward’s comments reflect a wider sense of stability returning to the squad, with performances and results improving markedly since the managerial change.
United’s return to Champions League qualification has been one of the standout achievements of the recent run, alongside a renewed belief within the dressing room and growing optimism among supporters about the direction of the team.
Carrick returned to Manchester United as interim manager following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim in January, and has since overseen a remarkable revival.
The 44-year-old has guided the side to 10 wins from 15 Premier League matches in charge, restoring competitive edge and tactical discipline at a crucial stage of the campaign.
His influence has been widely credited for stabilising performances and re-establishing United among the division’s top contenders, with results underlining a notable shift in consistency and game management since his appointment.
Support for Carrick has not been limited to Mbeumo, with Amad Diallo and Bruno Fernandes already making their appreciation public. Mbeumo has now joined that list, highlighting the strong environment created under the interim coach.
“I work a lot with the Travis Binnion, the video analysis team, but obviously sometimes with Steve Holland and the gaffer,” Mbeumo told the iPaper.
“It’s a good staff. They’ve done really well. A lot of people would like Carrick to stay, but obviously that’s not my decision.”
The final decision over Carrick’s future is expected to rest with INEOS and sporting director Jason Wilcox before the season concludes against Sunderland, with internal discussions ongoing.
Carrick has already indicated he wants clarity on his position without delay, as planning for next season accelerates behind the scenes.
His strong record since taking charge has intensified debate over continuity, while stability is being weighed carefully as United shape their next phase under the current leadership structure.
A final decision is anticipated to shape United’s direction heading into the summer transfer window and upcoming pre-season preparations significantly period.
