Bruno Paz: Angola midfielder joins Olympiakos Nicosia on free transfer from Otelul Galati

Angola-born midfielder Bruno Paz has joined Olympiakos Nicosia on a free transfer from Romanian side Otelul Galati. The 28-year-old defensive midfielder moves to Cyprus after a short spell in Romania’s SuperLiga.

Paz, who also holds Portuguese nationality, arrives as a specialist holding midfielder and is right-footed. Standing at 1.82m, he adds physical presence and experience in front of the back four for Olympiakos Nicosia, who have turned to the former Sporting academy player to bolster their options in the centre of the pitch.

The move continues a nomadic period in Paz’s career. He joined Otelul Galati in January 2026, also on a free transfer, after impressing in Moldova with Zimbru Chisinau, whom he had signed for in February 2025 following a spell without a club. Before that, he spent time in Turkey’s Super Lig with Konyaspor, having left Sporting B in 2022.

Paz was developed in Portugal after being born in Barreiro and progressing through the youth systems of Belenenses and then Sporting, eventually featuring for Sporting’s under-23s and B team before his moves abroad. His senior career has taken in league and cup football in Portugal, Turkey, Romania and Moldova, as well as appearances in European competition at youth and qualifying levels.

With a current market value listed at around €300,000, Paz now begins a new chapter in the Cyprus League after completing his switch from Otelul Galati to Olympiakos Nicosia on a free transfer.
