Bruno Genesio finds positives in Harit and Aguerd after PSG defeat

Olympique de Marseille manager Bruno Genesio believes Amine Harit and Nayef Aguerd are providing reasons for encouragement despite his side’s defeat by Paris Saint-Germain at the Velodrome on Sunday.

The loss came during a difficult start to the Ligue 1 season for Marseille, who are currently 17th in the table. However, Genesio highlighted the progress made by his two Moroccan players despite the team’s disappointing results.

“Amine has made a good start to the season. He is important to the team because of his tactical understanding, whether he plays out wide or behind the striker,” Genesio said.

The manager also praised Aguerd’s recovery, explaining that the defender had required careful work from Marseille’s medical and performance departments before returning to full fitness.

“With Nayef, we had to take our time. The medical and performance staff had to be precise in getting him back on his feet. He is making clear progress,” Genesio added.

“He is not far from his best level, and that is good news for us.”

Genesio nevertheless believes Harit must now improve his contribution in the final third if he is to continue developing.

“Amine now needs to be a little more decisive if he wants to take another step forward,” the Marseille manager said.
