Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly moving to secure Ghanaian midfielder Caleb Yirenkyi, earmarked as a potential long-term replacement for Carlos Baleba.

The 20-year-old has caught the attention of Premier League scouts after joining Danish side Nordsjaelland in 2024 from the renowned Right to Dream Academy.

Operating mainly as a holding midfielder, Yirenkyi has impressed in Scandinavia with his composure, tactical awareness, and maturity well beyond his years.

His performances have drawn interest from across Europe, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea all reportedly monitoring his progress.

Brighton, however, are understood to be leading the chase, having closely followed the youngster’s development. Scouts from several clubs were present for Nordsjaelland’s recent match against Midtjylland.

Brighton believe their pathway for young talent, coupled with a strong track record of developing players like Baleba, could be pivotal in persuading Yirenkyi to join the Seagulls.

Baleba, who has thrived since arriving in the Premier League, is expected to leave this summer, with Manchester United emerging as the frontrunner for the Cameroon international.

Yirenkyi has already featured in 44 games for Nordsjaelland, scoring four goals and providing seven assists.

He has also made eight appearances for the Ghana national team and is set to play a significant role in the upcoming World Cup, having been named in the Black Stars’ squad for pre-tournament friendlies against Austria and Germany later this month.

Brighton’s pursuit of Yirenkyi highlights their intent to secure one of Europe’s most promising young midfield talents ahead of their Premier League rivals.
