Brighton stun Arsenal 3-0 as Premier League winning run ends

Brighton & Hove Albion ended Arsenal’s nine-match Premier League winning streak with a convincing 3-0 victory on Saturday, producing a series of unwanted records for the reigning champions.

Arsenal struggled throughout the fifth-round fixture, with their defence repeatedly exposed and their midfield and attack unable to influence the game. Brighton controlled the contest and could have won by an even greater margin.

According to ESPN Insight on X, Arsenal had not lost a Premier League match by three goals or more since their 3-0 defeat by Brighton on 14 May 2023. The fact that the same opponents were responsible for both results added an unwanted twist to the statistic.

Bleacher Report also noted that Arsenal’s run of nine successive league victories had come to an end with another 3-0 defeat by Brighton. The London club had not previously lost a Premier League match by a margin of at least three goals since that meeting in May 2023.

Figures published by Mister Chip showed the result was Arsenal’s first defeat in any official competition by three goals or more since 14 May 2023. In the 182 matches since that loss, Arsenal had recorded 118 wins, 37 draws and 27 defeats, without once losing by more than two goals.

Squawka added that Arsenal had conceded at least three goals and lost a league match for the first time since their 3-2 defeat by Manchester United in January. It was also their first Premier League defeat without scoring since 31 August 2025, when they lost 1-0 to Liverpool.

Brighton continue to trouble the big clubs

Brighton followed their recent comeback victory over Manchester United with another notable result against one of the league’s leading sides. CBS Sport reported that they had beaten Manchester United and Arsenal in consecutive matches.

Bleacher Report also highlighted Brighton’s record of defeating the reigning Premier League champions at home for a third consecutive season.

The 3-0 win came only days after Brighton recovered to beat Manchester United 3-2 in the League Cup. The club have now scored 16 goals in their opening five Premier League matches, the highest total in the competition so far, according to Bleacher Report.

Pascal Gross has been a key contributor during Brighton’s strong start. Squawka said the midfielder had become the Premier League’s leading player for goal contributions this season, with six in total.

Brighton’s victory moved them up to third place temporarily on 10 points. Arsenal remained second on 12 points.
