Brighton consider move for Young Boys’ Algerian-French defender Jaouen Hadjam

Algerian-French left-back Jaouen Hadjam is the subject of a transfer rumour linking him with Brighton from Young Boys. The 23-year-old defender is contracted to the Swiss club until 30 June 2028, with the reported interest coming from Premier League side Brighton.

Hadjam has made three Super League appearances for Young Boys this season, featuring in 53% of the available league minutes. He has also appeared three times at the 2026 World Cup, although he has yet to register a goal or assist in the competitions listed for the current campaign.

He joined Young Boys from FC Nantes in January 2024 in a deal worth €1.3m and helped the club win the Swiss championship during the 2023-24 season. The move came after a spell at Nantes that began when he left Paris FC in January 2023.

Hadjam’s current contract means Young Boys are not facing an imminent expiry deadline, while his market value is listed at €7m. No transfer fee or agreement has been reported as part of the rumour.

Hadjam remains a Young Boys player, with the club holding him under contract through the end of June 2028.
