Brighton beat Getafe to claim second Conference League win

Brighton secured their second UEFA Conference League victory with a 1-0 win away to Getafe in the third round of matches.

The only goal came in the 64th minute, when Ivorian forward Malick Yalcouye found the net to settle the contest in Spain.

Younes Ibrahim, who has Egyptian heritage, was named among Brighton’s substitutes but did not come on.

Brighton’s victory moved them to seven points and fifth place in the league-phase table. They share that tally with Norwegian side Brann, Danish club Copenhagen, Romanian team Universitatea Craiova, Swedish side Mjallby and Dutch club Sint-Truiden.

Brighton sit above those teams on goal difference.

Getafe, meanwhile, remain on one point and are 31st in the standings.

In a related result, Yassin Ibrahim, who also has Egyptian heritage, provided an assist for his side against Lithuanian club Kauno Zalgiris on the opening matchday of the competition after coming on as a substitute.
