RC Lens manager Will Still has confirmed that goalkeeper Brice Samba is on the verge of leaving the club, with Rennais set to secure the 29-year-old’s signature.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of Lens’ Ligue 1 clash with Toulouse, Still revealed Samba’s desire to move on and the club’s acceptance of his decision.
“Samba let the club know he wanted to leave. He will neither be in the squad nor in goal this weekend,” Still stated. The coach also emphasized that Hervé Koffi will take Samba’s place between the posts for the time being.
With a market value of €15 million, Samba has been a pivotal figure for Lens, but his imminent departure leaves a void the club is actively working to fill. As the January transfer window approaches, Lens fans will keenly await updates on both Samba’s replacement and the team’s ability to maintain their momentum without their star goalkeeper.
The spotlight now shifts to Herve Koffi, who has the chance to prove his worth and cement his place in the squad.
