Brest step up interest in Alaves defender Moussa Diarra

Malian-French centre-back Moussa Diarra is the subject of transfer interest from Ligue 1 club Stade Brestois, with the 25-year-old currently contracted to LaLiga side Alaves.

Diarra joined Alaves from Toulouse on a free transfer in July 2024 and signed a deal that runs until 30 June 2028. He spent the second half of the 2025-26 season on loan at Belgian club RSC Anderlecht before returning to Spain when the temporary agreement ended on 30 June.

The defender has made 29 LaLiga appearances since moving to Alaves, adding to a career that includes spells in France’s top two divisions and Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League. His move to Anderlecht came after he had established himself in Spanish football following his departure from Toulouse.

Brest’s interest would represent a return to France for Diarra, who developed at Toulouse and helped the club win the Ligue 2 title in 2021-22 and the French Cup the following season. He made 46 Ligue 1 appearances for Toulouse, scoring once and providing four assists.

Any move would need to account for Diarra’s existing Alaves contract, which has two years remaining beyond the current season. The defender remains an Alaves player while speculation continues over a possible switch to Brest.
