Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois have officially completed the signing of Malian prospect Hamidou Makalou on a four-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at the club until June 2029.
The 18-year-old midfielder, who emerged from the renowned Jean-Marc Guillou Academy, is regarded as one of Mali’s most promising young talents.
His arrival was confirmed by the club on Saturday.
The young 18-year-old midfielder, a Malian U17 international, has officially signed with Stade Brestois for a period of four and a half years and will wear the number 33.
Welcome to Stade Brestois,” the club stated in an official press release.
Makalou gained international recognition during the recent FIFA U-17 World Cup, where he played a pivotal role for Mali.
The attacking midfielder was the second-highest scorer of the tournament, contributing two goals and an assist to his nation’s campaign.
Brest, currently pushing for a strong finish in Ligue 1, will be hoping Makalou’s attacking qualities can add depth to their squad.
The teenager’s technical ability and creativity in the final third have drawn comparisons to some of Mali’s top footballing exports.
With his contract running until 2029, Brest have made a clear statement of intent by securing one of Africa’s rising stars for the long term.
Makalou is expected to develop further under the guidance of Brest’s coaching staff as he transitions into top-flight European football.
The move represents a significant step in the young midfielder’s career, as he now looks to make his mark in France’s top division.
Brest supporters will be eager to see their new signing in action as he embarks on his professional journey with the club.
