Brentford seal record move for Burkinabe forward Dango Ouattara
Brentford have completed the signing of Burkina Faso international Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth in a transfer reported to be worth around €50m.
The 22-year-old forward, who netted seven goals in the Premier League last season, has signed a five-year contract with the Bees, with the option of an additional year.
The deal represents a club-record fee for Brentford as they strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
Bournemouth, who secured Ouattara from Lorient in January 2023, are expected to benefit significantly from the transfer, with the windfall easing financial pressure at the club.
Despite his impressive contribution last season, the Cherries opted to cash in on the striker, marking one of the biggest sales in their history.
Brentford announced the signing in a statement confirming their excitement at bringing in a player whose versatility and direct style of play has already been proven at the highest level of English football.
The club emphasised that Ouattara’s pace, power and work rate make him an ideal fit for their system, particularly with his ability to operate across the front line.
Ouattara, who has been capped for Burkina Faso, arrives at the Gtech Community Stadium at a time when Brentford are aiming to consolidate their position in the Premier League.
His arrival not only adds firepower but also signals the club’s ambition to continue competing with established top-flight sides.

The transfer also underlines Brentford’s willingness to invest in young, dynamic talent capable of making an immediate impact while retaining long-term potential.
Ouattara’s five-year contract reflects the club’s confidence in his development and importance to their future plans.
Bournemouth, meanwhile, will now look to reinvest part of the fee as they reshape their squad.
Although losing a player of Ouattara’s calibre is a setback on the pitch, the record-breaking sale provides the financial means to strengthen in other areas.
Ouattara expressed his delight at joining Brentford, highlighting the club’s progressive project and the opportunity to continue developing in the Premier League.
This is an exciting new step in my career, he said. I am looking forward to playing for Brentford and contributing to the team’s success.
The move is seen as a major coup for Brentford, who continue to build on their growing reputation for smart recruitment.
With Ouattara now part of their attack, the Bees will hope he can replicate and surpass his Bournemouth form in West London colours.
