Brentford have reached an agreement with Bournemouth for the signing of Burkina Faso international Dango Ouattara, with the transfer set to be completed following a scheduled medical examination.

The 23-year-old winger, who joined Bournemouth in January 2023, had expressed a desire to move to the Bees, and journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the player’s wish will now be fulfilled.

According to reports, the deal is valued at around £37 million, including performance-related bonuses, which equates to approximately €43 million.

Ouattara is under contract at Bournemouth until June 2028 and is currently listed with a market value of €28 million on Transfermarkt.

However, Brentford’s willingness to meet the Cherries’ demands reflects their determination to strengthen their attacking options before the close of the transfer window.

The player’s medical was scheduled for Friday, 15 August, and barring unforeseen complications, Ouattara is expected to be unveiled as Brentford’s latest signing shortly afterwards.

His arrival would mark a significant addition to Thomas Frank’s squad, providing pace, versatility, and creativity on the flanks.

Ouattara’s rise has been swift. After beginning his career in Burkina Faso, he made his European breakthrough in France with Lorient, where his impressive displays quickly drew attention from Premier League scouts.

Bournemouth moved decisively to secure his services, and although his time on the south coast has been relatively short, his performances have been closely monitored by rival English clubs.

The winger has also established himself on the international stage, becoming a key figure for the Burkina Faso national team, popularly known as the Stallions.

His direct style of play, combined with strong dribbling and an eye for goal, has made him one of the standout African talents currently competing in Europe’s top leagues.

For Brentford, the deal represents both an investment in quality and a signal of intent. With the club aiming to consolidate their position in the Premier League and push further up the table, securing a player of Ouattara’s calibre is viewed as a statement signing.

His addition is expected to provide much-needed depth to their attack, alongside players such as Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa, while also offering a long-term solution given his age and potential for development.

While Bournemouth will part with one of their most promising assets, the reported fee offers them significant financial leverage as they continue their own squad-building efforts.

For a player valued at €28 million, the agreed £37 million deal represents a strong piece of business, though the loss of Ouattara’s dynamism may be felt on the pitch.

As the transfer edges closer to completion, attention will soon shift to how quickly Ouattara adapts to Brentford’s system and the demands of Thomas Frank’s tactical setup.

Given his proven ability to adjust to the Premier League with Bournemouth, the expectation is that the Burkinabe winger will make an immediate impact once the move is finalised.

If confirmed, Ouattara’s signing would stand as one of Brentford’s most expensive transfers to date, underlining the growing ambition of a club eager to maintain its upward trajectory in English football.
