Brentford agree £40m deal to sign Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf from West Ham

Brentford have agreed a deal to sign Senegal international left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf from West Ham, with the transfer expected to be completed once the final details are settled.

The Bees are understood to have agreed an initial fee of £35m, with a further £5m available in add-ons, taking the potential value of the deal to £40m.

Diouf has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Nottingham Forest, but the 25-year-old is believed to be keen on a move to Brentford.

The final details of the transfer are now being finalised, with Diouf expected to undergo a medical before the move can be officially completed.

The Senegal international joined West Ham as the club looked to strengthen at left-back and has since established himself as an important member of the squad.

However, his time at the London Stadium has been overshadowed by West Ham’s relegation from the Premier League last season. The Hammers will compete in the Championship during the 2026/27 campaign.

Diouf will now have the opportunity to remain in the Premier League should his move to Brentford be completed.

The defender was also part of the Senegal side that won the Africa Cup of Nations, adding international success to his growing club career.

Brentford have been keen to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season, and Diouf’s versatility, athleticism and experience at international level are expected to make him a valuable addition to Thomas Frank’s former side.

With the medical still to be completed and the final contractual details being resolved, the transfer is not yet officially confirmed. However, an agreement between the two clubs has been reached, putting Diouf on course to become a Brentford player.
