Dr. Patrice Motsepe, the incumbent President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), has announced his decision to seek a second term in office.
Motsepe, the South African business mogul, was first elected as CAF President on March 12, 2021, in Rabat, Morocco.
His decision to run for re-election in the upcoming CAF Presidential Elections, scheduled for March next year, comes after much speculation and anticipation among his supporters.

A statement from CAF on Friday confirmed Motsepe’s decision to seek re-election:
“CAF President Dr Patrice Motsepe finally agrees to stand as Candidate at CAF Presidential Elections in March 2025.” the statement reads.
“Following requests from numerous CAF Member Association Presidents, Zonal Union Presidents and key stakeholders, the CAF President, Dr Patrice Motsepe, has finally agreed to stand as a candidate.”
Motsepe succeeded Malagasy administrator Ahmad Ahmad, who served only one term as CAF President.
The upcoming election will determine whether Motsepe will continue to lead CAF and drive further advancements in African football.
His candidacy has already generated considerable interest and support, reflecting his influence and vision for the future of the sport on the continent.
