The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has confirmed the resignation of head coach Marian Marinica from his position as head coach of the senior men’s national team, the Warriors, citing personal reasons.

Marinica, who was appointed in November 2025 on a one-year contract, leaves the role after leading Zimbabwe at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, where the team exited at the group stage.

In an official statement, ZIFA said it has accepted the coach’s decision and expressed gratitude for his service during his tenure with the national team. The association also extended its best wishes to Marinica in his future endeavours.

Following his departure, ZIFA has named Kaitaono Temba as interim head coach for the Warriors’ upcoming Unity Cup assignment in the United Kingdom. He will be assisted by newly appointed assistant coach Takesure Chiragwi as part of a technical team reshuffle.

The interim coaching team is expected to assume duties immediately as Zimbabwe prepares for the international tournament.

Before taking charge of the Warriors, Marinica had accumulated coaching experience across Africa, Europe, Asia, and South America.
