Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr. is poised to be honoured as the best player in the world at the FIFA The Best awards ceremony scheduled for Tuesday night in Doha, Qatar, according to reports from GE Globo.
This recognition comes after the Brazilian star missed out on the Ballon d’Or earlier this year.
At just 24 years old, Vinicius will join the ranks of legendary Brazilian players such as Romario, Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, and Kaka, who have all received accolades from FIFA since the award’s inception in 1991.
He will also become the first Brazilian to win the Best Player award since 2007.

During the 2023/24 season, Vinicius emerged as a key player for Real Madrid, helping the team secure both the Champions League and La Liga titles. He played in 39 matches, netting 24 goals and providing 11 assists.
Currently, Real Madrid is in Qatar preparing for the Intercontinental Cup final against Mexico’s Pachuca on Wednesday.
Vinicius, who opted out of the Ballon d’Or gala alongside his teammates, will attend The Best awards ceremony after training on Tuesday.
