Jérôme Boateng Looks Ahead to Brazil Semi-Final, Avoids Revenge Talk
As Germany prepares to face Brazil in the 2014 World Cup semi-final in Belo Horizonte, defender Jérôme Boateng is focused on the challenge ahead rather than revisiting past defeats.
Reflecting on Germany’s loss to Brazil in the 2002 final—when Boateng was still a child—the Bayern Munich player dismissed the idea of this match being a chance for revenge. “It’s a semi-final and we want to reach the final, it will be quite tough,” he said.
Boateng also addressed the intriguing reunion with his Bayern teammate Dante, who is expected to replace the suspended Thiago Silva for Brazil. “For both teams, there are advantages and disadvantages, he knows us, we know him. We are happy that he is playing, it will be his first time against us, it is not usual, but we absolutely want to win this match, and we will become friends again after the game.”
With both teams boasting strong squads and personal connections, the stage is set for a high-stakes encounter as Germany seeks to advance to the World Cup final.
