Brazil Continue Post-World Cup Clear-Out Following Scolari Exit
The shake-up within the Brazil national team setup is continuing in the wake of their humiliating 7-1 defeat to Germany in the 2014 World Cup semi-finals.
Following the departure of head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has now moved to dismiss two more senior staff members. According to GloboEsporte, communications director Rodrigo Paiva and long-serving team doctor José Luiz Runco have both had their contracts terminated.
No official reasons were provided for the dismissals, but further changes within the Seleção’s backroom staff are reportedly expected in the coming days.
The changes come as Brazil looks to rebuild after one of the most devastating defeats in the country’s footballing history, with the focus now shifting toward the 2016 Olympics and the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
