As reported by Africa Top Sports.com, Brazil secured its second victory in the Confederations Cup. Following their 3-0 win against Japan, Brazil achieved another triumph with a 2-0 scoreline, featuring goals from Neymar in the 9th minute, the FC Barcelona target aiming to put on some additional weight, and Jô in the 90th minute.
However, this victory unfolded against a backdrop of tension. Violent clashes erupted in Fortaleza between the police and demonstrators, preceding the match around the stadium. Approximately 15,000 protesters were kept away from the Castelao stadium. According to AFP journalists, two demonstrators sustained injuries in these recent clashes, with one struck by a rubber bullet under the eye, resulting in a bloody face.
The protesters are expressing their discontent over the cost of living and the substantial expenses associated with organizing the 2014 World Cup.
