Fernandão, Former Marseille Striker, Dies in Helicopter Crash
Fernandão, the former Olympique de Marseille striker, has tragically died in a helicopter crash along with four others, Brazilian media report.
The accident occurred late Friday night in a tourist area approximately twenty kilometers from Goiás. The cause of the crash remains unclear.
Fernandão, aged 36, played three seasons at Marseille between 2001 and 2004 before a six-month loan to Toulouse. His former coach Albert Emon expressed his shock: “I really liked this boy. Beyond his footballing qualities, he was kind, humble, and intelligent. He quickly learned French and was a pleasure to work with.”
Emon also recalled Fernandão’s strong recovery after a serious head injury. “I am deeply shocked to hear of his death,” he added.
