The Brazilian football club Flamengo has terminated the contract of striker Adriano. The announcement was made by Flamengo’s president, Zinho, stating that Adriano is no longer part of the squad, as per the player’s own words. Adriano, who joined Flamengo in August, has not played a single match for the club.
Adriano’s contract, which was set to expire on December 22, included a provision that allowed termination on the third violation. The player did not show up to explain himself after receiving six warnings, and his repeated absences rendered the contract void. Despite still recovering from an Achilles tendon operation, Adriano announced that he would not return to training with Flamengo until 2013.
Throughout his career, Adriano played for clubs such as Fiorentina, Inter Milan, Parma, and Roma in Italy, as well as Sao Paulo and Corinthians in Brazil. Known for his off-field escapades, Adriano has faced issues related to weight and discipline during his career.
