The Ivory Coast national football team will receive the same bonuses for the upcoming World Cup in Brazil as they did in the 2010 tournament. Despite tensions between the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) and the Ministry of Sports, there will be no increase in bonuses for the players.
This decision comes amidst concerns over the team’s recent performances, including disappointments at the African Cup of Nations and previous World Cup editions. However, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Alain Lobognon, remained firm on maintaining the existing bonus structure.
Prime Minister Daniel Kablan Duncan intervened to set the budget for the Ivory Coast’s World Cup campaign at 2.3 billion CFA francs. Each player will receive 50 million CFA francs in selection bonuses, with additional target bonuses ranging from 2 to 3 million CFA francs for each match won.
Despite hopes for increased incentives, the decision reflects a commitment to financial stability and consistency in the team’s compensation structure.
