BRAZIL 2014: THE GERMAN TEAM’S BASE CAMP POSES A PROBLEM

The 2014 Brazil World Cup has been rife with stories, and now the focus is on Germany’s base camp for the competition. A report by the Brazilian daily Folha de Sao Paulo, which was picked up by the German press, highlighted alleged difficult working conditions and environmental risks at the camp.

However, these claims have been contested by both the builder of Germany’s base camp and the German Football Federation (DFB). Marco Rocchi, a spokesperson for the construction company Hirmer, stated that the construction adheres to strict environmental protection regulations and safety measures were implemented on the site last year.

Similarly, a spokesperson for the DFB expressed confidence in the base camp’s construction, asserting that it complies with all legal requirements.

With conflicting reports, it becomes a question of whom to believe – the press or the manufacturer and the DFB. The German team’s base camp is located in Santo Andre, near Salvador de Bahia in the northeast of Brazil.
