The demand for tickets to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil has been overwhelming, with over 6 million ticket requests received during the first sales period, which ended on October 10. This initial phase focused on the least expensive tickets, ranging from 10 to 114 euros.
Brazil, as the host nation, accounted for 71% of the total requests (down from 77% until October 3). Other countries with significant ticket requests include the United States (374,065), Argentina (266,937), and Germany (134,899).
The most sought-after tickets are for the opening match in São Paulo (726,067 requests), the final at the Maracanã (751,165 requests), and matches involving the Brazilian national team.
Due to the overwhelming demand, FIFA will conduct a random selection through an electronic draw to determine the recipients of the tickets.
