FIFA has announced a 37% increase in funding for teams participating in the upcoming World Cup. The decision, approved by the Finance Committee on December 5 in Costa do Sauipe (Bahia), raises the total payments to USD 576 million, compared to USD 420 million in 2010. The distribution includes USD 358 million for the 32 participating teams, with the winner receiving USD 35 million, the runner-up USD 25 million, the third and fourth-placed teams USD 22 million and USD 20 million, respectively. Quarter-finalists will get USD 14 million, round of 16 teams USD 9 million, and those exiting in the group stage USD 8 million. Additionally, each participating team will receive USD 1.5 million for preparation costs, and USD 70 million will be paid to clubs for their players’ participation. Another USD 100 million will be allocated to the Club Protection Program for the FIFA World Cup.
