Brandão’s Move to Bastia in Doubt Amid Transfer Fee Dispute
Brandão’s anticipated transfer to SC Bastia appears to have hit a roadblock, just a day after the Corsican club announced his arrival from AS Saint-Étienne.
In a surprising turn of events, Bastia issued a statement on Friday revealing that the transfer may no longer go ahead due to unexpected financial demands from Saint-Étienne. According to the club, ASSE is now asking for a transfer fee—something that was reportedly not part of the original agreement.
“AS Saint-Étienne has demanded a transfer fee, contrary to what was initially planned,” Bastia said in the statement, hinting at a breakdown in the previously agreed-upon terms.
The Corsican side had hoped to bring in the experienced Brazilian forward to bolster their attacking options alongside Djibril Cissé. However, with negotiations now in jeopardy, Bastia has confirmed it will continue its search for a new striker.
This latest development marks a reversal in what seemed a straightforward deal. Brandão, a key figure for Saint-Étienne in recent seasons, was expected to leave on a free transfer, making his proposed move to Bastia a low-risk addition for the Ligue 1 club.
With the transfer window still open, all eyes will be on whether Bastia can revive the deal—or if they will pivot to alternative targets.
