Algeria’s Yacine Brahimi Attracts European Interest After World Cup Display
Algerian international Yacine Brahimi is drawing significant attention across Europe following his impressive performances at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Granada winger, who netted a goal in Algeria’s historic 4-2 win over South Korea, has become one of the hottest prospects of the summer transfer window.
According to reports, at least five European clubs have expressed interest in the 24-year-old, with Portuguese giants FC Porto and English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur among the frontrunners.
In Italy, AS Roma are reportedly keen to secure the former Rennes midfielder, while Serie A rivals Udinese are also monitoring his situation. Meanwhile, in Spain, Valencia are said to have made Brahimi a top transfer priority, eyeing a potential reunion with his Algeria teammate Sofiane Feghouli—should the latter remain at the club amid links to AC Milan.
Brahimi remains under contract with Granada until 2017, but with growing interest from top European sides, a transfer this summer appears increasingly likely.
