Brahim Diaz puts Morocco ahead of Lesotho at half-time in 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier

Morocco lead Lesotho 1-0 at half-time in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier after Brahim Diaz struck shortly before the break.

The Lions of the Atlas controlled the opening 45 minutes and spent much of the half in the Lesotho half, creating a series of attacking opportunities.

Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss, Ismael Saibari and Brahim Diaz were among those who tested the home defence, but Lesotho’s goalkeeper and back line held firm during the early Moroccan pressure.

Morocco continued to press as the half progressed and eventually made the breakthrough in the 45th minute.

Brahim Diaz took advantage of a promising attacking move and finished with his left foot to give Walid Regragui’s side the lead.

Morocco then protected their advantage through the remainder of the first half, with the referee sending both teams into the dressing rooms after three minutes of added time.

The visitors will now look to manage their 1-0 advantage during the second half.
