Morocco can compete with the best at World Cup, says Brahim Díaz
Morocco international Brahim Díaz has expressed strong belief that the Atlas Lions are capable of achieving major success at the next FIFA World Cup, pointing to the team’s quality, unity and attacking style of play.
Speaking in an interview with DAZN, the Real Madrid midfielder said Morocco possess a talented generation of players who can compete with the strongest nations in world football, building on the progress made during their historic run at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
“We play street football. We play for fun, we connect with our teammates, we play one-twos, one-on-ones… We can achieve great things,” said Brahim Díaz.
Since choosing to represent Morocco in 2024, the attacking midfielder has become an increasingly important figure in the national team setup. His technical ability and creativity have added further strength to a squad already recognised for its organisation and collective spirit.
Morocco captured global attention at the 2022 World Cup when they became the first African and Arab nation to reach the semi-finals of the tournament. Their run included notable victories over Spain and Portugal, before they were eventually eliminated in the last four.
That achievement has raised expectations ahead of the next edition of the tournament, with Morocco now regarded as one of the emerging forces in international football.
Díaz is among the players expected to play a key role in the team’s ambitions going forward. His comments reflect growing confidence within the squad as they aim to replicate, and potentially surpass, their success in Qatar.
The Real Madrid player also highlighted the strong bond within the group, suggesting that cohesion and belief remain central to Morocco’s progress on the international stage.
With the next World Cup approaching, Morocco’s objective will be to confirm their status among the elite nations in world football, with Díaz and his teammates carrying the hopes of a nation eager to build on its historic breakthrough.
