Brahim Diaz determined to make it at Real Madrid
Brahim Diaz’s journey with Real Madrid has been anything but straightforward, but the playmaker appears more determined than ever to succeed at the Bernabeu.
The Spanish-born Moroccan joined Los Blancos from Manchester City on 7 January 2019, arriving as a highly rated attacking midfielder with the technical flair suited to Real Madrid’s expansive style.
Breaking into a star-studded squad under Zinedine Zidane proved difficult, and Diaz often found himself limited to cameo appearances and cup minutes rather than a guaranteed starting role. Those stop‑start opportunities led the club to seek a solution that would accelerate his development while keeping him in their long‑term plans.
On 4 September 2020, Diaz moved to AC Milan on loan for the 2020–21 campaign, embracing the chance to play regular football in Serie A.
His impact convinced both clubs to extend the arrangement for two additional seasons, giving him the platform to grow tactically and physically in a demanding league.
After three years in Italy, he returned to Real Madrid in June 2023, now a more mature, battle‑tested midfielder ready to compete for his place and justify the club’s long‑standing belief in his potential.
