Bradley Grobler targets one last PSL season after Sekhukhune exit

Veteran striker Bradley Grobler is intent on extending his Premier Soccer League career by at least one more season after leaving Sekhukhune United at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.

The 38-year-old former Bafana Bafana forward is currently without a club but is training alone to maintain his fitness as he explores options for what he expects to be the final year of his professional career.

Grobler, who finished last season with eight goals for Sekhukhune United, saw his contract lapse in June 2026 and it was not renewed by the club.

He is now being linked with moves to Stellenbosch and AmaZulu, with both sides understood to be monitoring his situation as the new PSL campaign approaches.

A source close to the player told KickOff that Grobler is determined to continue playing and believes he can still make a decisive contribution in front of goal.

“Bradley Grobler is training, he is training by himself, he is keeping fit,” the source said.

“The striker wants to play one more year. The boy can do it anywhere when it comes to scoring goals for a team. He can do it even at Kaizer Chiefs. Scoring goals is in his DNA.”

Chasing active goals record

Grobler remains one of the league’s most prolific forwards of his generation and is closing in on a notable milestone in South African football.

He is currently five goals behind the PSL’s active record goalscorer Peter Shalulile, who, according to indications, appears likely to continue his career outside South Africa in the 2026-27 season.

That potential move could open the door for Grobler to close the gap if he secures a new contract and maintains his scoring form during what he envisages as a farewell campaign.

Free agent after Sekhukhune spell

Grobler joined Sekhukhune United in the latter stages of his career and continued to deliver in front of goal, finishing the 2025-26 season as one of the club’s key attacking threats despite his age.

However, the club opted against extending his deal beyond June 2026, leaving the forward free to negotiate with interested sides ahead of the new season.

The player, who has represented Bafana Bafana and spent much of his career as a consistent scorer in the PSL, is now assessing his next move while working individually to stay in peak condition.

While there has been speculation about a variety of possible destinations, including the suggestion he could still perform for a club of Kaizer Chiefs’ stature, Grobler’s immediate focus is understood to be on securing a contract that will allow him to bow out of the game on his own terms after one final year at the top level.
