Bradley Barcola set for Liverpool medical as £145m move from Paris Saint-Germain nears

Bradley Barcola is expected to undergo a medical with Liverpool on Thursday as the Paris Saint-Germain winger moves closer to a transfer to the Premier League club, according to Radio Monte Carlo.

Barcola has arrived in Liverpool ahead of the examination, which is the next significant step in a deal that could make him the most expensive signing in Liverpool’s history.

If he successfully completes the medical, the France international will sign a five-season contract with Liverpool. The overall value of the agreement is expected to reach a record €145m, including add-ons.

As part of the deal, Liverpool will also pay an additional €5m solidarity payment to Barcola. That money will cover the cost of a sell-on fee negotiated by Lyon when the player moved from the club to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023.

Liverpool have been pursuing Barcola during the current summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their attacking options. The 23-year-old has competed for a place in the Paris Saint-Germain team with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Desire Doue.

Barcola enjoyed a productive campaign with Paris Saint-Germain last season, making 49 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists. He helped the club win Ligue 1 and the UEFA Champions League.

Since joining Paris Saint-Germain from Lyon in the summer of 2023, Barcola has played 152 matches for the French club in all competitions. He has scored 39 goals and registered 37 assists during that time.

His honours with Paris Saint-Germain include two UEFA Champions League titles, two UEFA Super Cup victories, the Intercontinental Cup, three French Super Cup triumphs and two Coupe de France successes. The trophy list also includes three French Super Cup titles.

Barcola has also represented France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Les Bleus finished fourth.

The proposed move would give Liverpool a player with experience at the highest level of European club football and international competition. Barcola’s arrival would also add further competition to an attack that the club has identified as an area requiring reinforcement.

The transfer remains subject to the completion of the medical and the signing of the contract. Once those stages are completed, Barcola will formally become a Liverpool player after two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain.

His move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2023 followed his development at Lyon, where he established himself before making the switch to one of France’s leading clubs. At Paris Saint-Germain, he has continued to develop while competing for attacking positions alongside Kvaratskhelia and Doue.

Liverpool’s agreement with Paris Saint-Germain would therefore combine a record headline fee with a separate payment linked to the terms of Barcola’s previous transfer. The €145m figure includes potential add-ons, while the €5m solidarity payment is a separate element of the arrangement.
