Bradley Barcola could make Liverpool debut against Ipswich, says Iraola

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola has hinted that new signing Bradley Barcola could make his Premier League debut against Ipswich Town on Friday, provided the France international completes Thursday’s training session without any problems.

Barcola joined Liverpool from Paris Saint-Germain in a reported blockbuster deal worth $166m. The 23-year-old forward signed a five-year contract with the Premier League club and has been given the number 29 shirt.

The move has created considerable excitement among Liverpool supporters, who are expecting the Frenchman to bring greater pace, creativity and another attacking option to Iraola’s side.

Barcola’s potential involvement would come shortly after his arrival at Anfield, with Iraola encouraged by the player’s early work in training. “We are very happy with Bradley; it was our priority to sign a very, very good player in those positions. He has also come with the right mentality. I like that he wanted Liverpool a lot. He wanted to come here,” Iraola said in a pre-match press conference on Thursday.

Barcola moved to Liverpool after a period in which his playing time at Paris Saint-Germain was limited, with the French club favouring Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Despite those restrictions, Barcola arrives with significant experience at the highest level. He is a two-time Champions League winner with Paris Saint-Germain, although he was used as a substitute in both finals.

Liverpool have invested heavily to secure the forward’s services, and his arrival represents one of the club’s most notable moves of the summer transfer window. The expectation is that he will provide an immediate attacking boost as the Reds look for their first Premier League victory of the season.
