Premier League outfit AFC Bournemouth have turned down Olympique Lyon’s approach for Ivory Coast international Hamed Junior Traoré in the current window.
After a difficult couple of years, Traoré managed to get his career back on track last season in what was an overwhelmingly positive loan spell at AJ Auxerre.
He netted 10 goals in 26 league appearances for Christophe Pélissier’s side, helping Auxerre to maintain their status in the French Ligue 1 last season.
Auxerre wished to have the Ivory Coast international in their team for the new season, but are financially not sound to secure him from Bournemouth this time.
However, Lyon, who are aiming to bolster their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 football season has contacted Bournemouth to snatch the Ivorian on loan this summer, with the Cherries turning down the bid.
The Premier League side do not object to the forward leaving, as the club seek for the permanent sale of the midfielder. They are reticent to accept another loan spell.
Traore has been in the books of Bournemouth since 2023, with his current contract expected to expire in summer 2028.
